From Day 4: La cinco (Number five)

Tengo and tienes

Compare the person forms:

Hear it in the conversation

  • Marta

    Tengo diez. ¿Tienes cambio?

I have ten. Do you have change?

  • Yo tengo — “I have”
  • Tú tienes — “You have”

As with hablas, the form for tú ends in -s. In ¿Tienes cambio?, cambio is the money returned after paying more than the price.

Notes explain it. The conversation makes it stick.

In Formula 100 you hear each phrase in a short scene first, then recall it from memory. The phrases come back in your review deck just before you’d forget them. From Week 2, you also rebuild each conversation in Spanish a week later.
